Vietnam PM earmarks 65bn dong for training textile workers

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has issued an order to set aside an amount of 65.569 billion dong for human resources training for the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) in the central budget in 2014

The Prime Minister has requested Vinatex to use the additional funds for imparting education and training to improve manpower resources, while strictly complying with the current regulations.

The amount has been earmarked as part of the Government’s textile industry development strategy until 2020, which envisages developing the textile industry to make it one of the key industries in Vietnam, spearheading exports, meeting the increasing domestic demand, and creating more jobs.

To achieve the strategic objective of sustainable development of the Vietnamese textile industry, it is necessary to develop human resources both in terms of quantity and quality, with focus on imparting training to create managers, technicians, skilled workers, etc.

The human resources training would also include training for textile weaving and dyeing, as well as courses in design and fabric analysis, production management skills, and imparting knowledge of various standards, including material, product, environmental and labour standards.

A part of the fund would also be used for sending professionals abroad to acquire greater skills.
